英文留學(xué)申請書篇1

ten years from now tim dickson won't even remember my name. the unknowingrecipient of my undying love for two years, tim had been everything a girl couldever ask for: smart, handsome, witty, and athletic, with a voice that could makeangels weep. everyone knew his name. to a shy little country mouse, nearlyinvisible in our student body, he was the epitome of manliness. i sat in mycorner of room c-119 and gazed adoringly at his profile as he amazed the classof modern world history with his dashing style. carefully planning the routes tomy classes to coincide with his, i was his silent shadow.

after fourteen months, contrary to my hopes, tim still was not aware of myexistence. determined to bring myself to his attention, i staged my entrance tohis heart with all the flair i could muster. i would breach his defenses at thenext history oral presentation in the guise of the dashing cardinalrichelieu.

it was now or never! striding into the classroom, my head raised, eyesflashing, i stood proudly, the colors of my eighteenth-century costume catchingthe light and giving me courage. my opening line shook with tight emotion."gentlemen, i am disgusted!" my voice alternately lashed out in rage and purredin soft persuasion. i gloried in my elocution. each word was power. my voicerose to a brilliant conclusion, and i stood with my arms outstretched and myhead bowed in submission.

dear _,

buildings are a necessity in life, and i would like to be the next innovative mind that will produce works as extraordinary as that of renzo piano, sir norman foster and zaha hadid. neo-futurism is a movement that interests me because of the mix between art and technology which can be shown in works such as wembley stadium or the shard. i think this course will let me showcase my creative, team work and it skills that are fundamental in this field.

art is a regular hobby of mine, and studying it in school not only made me experiment with different media and techniques, but at a2, it allowed me to think like an artist and understand, for example, the symbolism of a pre-raphaelite painting such as ophelia. not having studied art at gcse meant that i had to learn new techniques such as mono-printing or dry point within a short amount of time and this progress is shown in my as sketchbooks.

mathematics is a subject i have enjoyed throughout my school years, however i believe my as grade does not reflect my full potential. classical civilisation was a subject that i thoroughly enjoyed at gcse. the modules within the course led me to research about the history of architecture during the greek and roman periods. i learned about the detail in which buildings were designed, from the frieze on temples to common buildings such as homes and various key elements which reflected a part of their culture.

english literature allowed me to broaden my knowledge of literature by studying novels and poems. this subject has also taught me how to understand someone else’s opinion and counteract with a valid argument through essay-writing and class debates. i feel that this quality will be helpful when discussing social and environmental aspects of designing buildings.

computing enables me to understand the way in which a system works, and the opportunity to create my own system as part of my a2 unit led me to understand several aspects of computers such as programming, creating databases and working with clients. i have been interested in cad since i was introduced to it briefly during textiles technology at gcse and since then, i have practiced personal projects with programs such as photoshop and autocad.

i enjoy helping with teaching lower school students as i usually help out in art lessons on a weekly basis and have also taken part in a peer mentoring scheme in which i was able to guide year 11 students for their gcse exams. this is something from which i gained an insight about taking on responsibility and having leadership skills. this year i am also part of the student council, and as a sixth form student, it is my responsibility to ensure that input from all key stages are being taken into account during organisation of events or simply for new changes.

volunteering weekly at cancer research helps me gain customer service and work as part of a team for an important cause. i also read novels, and often write works of fiction, including topics such as mystery, crime and coming of age.

i regularly play badminton and i would like to carry this hobby with me to university. recently i have enrolled on an online course for creative writing in order to broaden my writing skills. a personal visit to bath earlier this year also heightened this interest in past architectural designs from the greek and roman periods and the elements which we still may use today such as arches or aqueducts. i would like to study architecture at university because i believe that a combination of my skills and creativity will let me integrate well within this course. i am keen to learn about how current technology is used to develop extraordinary and unique buildings, taking culture, nature or even the past as inspiration.

it has come to my attention that our nations, and nations like ours, havelong been plagued by a mysterious occurrence. an occurrence that is asperplexing as it is frustrating, and as baffling as it is widespread.

it has come to my attention that our nations, and nations like ours, havelong been plagued by a mysterious occurrence. an occurrence that is asperplexing as it is frustrating, and as baffling as it is widespread, a problemthat finds its origins at the very foot of our society. the problem of which ispeak is none other than “the orphan sock enigma,” the constant disappearance ofindividual socks during the laundering process. it is a problem familiar to allof us, and also one to which we have unwillingly admitted defeat.

i recently decided that this puzzle had remained unsolved for too long, andresolved to find an explanation. (in the grand tradition of science, i refusedto be discouraged by the basic irrelevance of my cause.) but the truth that iuncovered is more shocking and fantastic than i could have ever imagined. myprocedures, observations, and conclusions are as follows:

first, to verify that the problem exists, experimental and control loads oflaundry were completely processed (put through the washer and dryer). in thexperimental load (load with socks), by the end of the process, some socks werelost. but in the control load (load without socks), no socks were lost. thus theproblem was verified.

next the progress of a load of socks was carefully monitored. the resultsindicated that sock disappearance occurs during the period of time when the loadis in the dryer. following this conclusion, a literature search was done and avery significant fact was uncovered: there is no mention of socks disappearingin dryers before the invention of dryers in the 1920s. all evidence clearlypointed to the dryer. and it is there that i would find the answer to theenigma.

then, the actual experiment was done. in four separate trials, a number ofsocks (ten socks, or five pairs) were put through a normal drying cycle. thetypes of socks tested were selected by the highly accurate harvey-allmanprinciple hierarchy and zero alternative reduction dimension.

due to the comprehensiveness of chinasquo;s reform and open policies, economics plays an increasingly important role in the development of its global position. though more and more companies built, management of companies cannot catch up with the development of the companies. management is a burgeoning field in china, so i hope i can acquire more modern knowledge on management in england.

the roots of my strong interest in business can be traced back to my childhood. my father was among the first of chinasquo;s new breed of modern entrepreneurs. as a young girl, it was inspirational hearing about his business ventures, and meeting the varied and interesting circle of entrepreneurs. my mother was also involved in business as an accountant, helping him with simple calculations. and so it was early in my life that i hoped i, also, would someday be able to enter the realm of business.

with the time of growing up, i preferred reading books to satisfy my curiosity. i never ceased to contemplate over the questions i encountered. subjects on business and management became a special fascination to me and my knowledge of psychology as well as interest in this field was increasing rapidly.

as a high school student in china, i had to concentrate on the college entrance examination (cee), even so, books not related to the exams were never excluded from my life. unfortunately when sitting in the exam in june, 2001, i was so nervous that i didnsquo;t score well in the cee exam. i enrolled in the department of computer science in zhejiang college of traditional chinese medicine. any attempt to persuade myself to focus on my major turned out to be a failure at the beginning of my college life. after several terms, i realized that i would never be interested in being a programmer or an engineer. at that moment, i lost my direction and objectives.

my persistence in reading saved me from the dark situation. as a matter of fact, i enjoyed reading the books included encyclopedia american, and some books about management by peter f.drucker. i began to notice something interesting: why some companies can produce more than others? why some company can sell more than others? why some companies can build up but others cannot when facing the same difficulties?

with the questions in my mind, i started to read many relevant books. i was lucky to read the book jack: straight from the gutby jack welch, in which john a. byrne makes a clear illustration that the management is important for a company. when i was a junior, i ran a bookshop by myself near my school. i should manage not only the finance in the shop but also the employees in my shop even made some strategies to enlarge the business in my shop to hold on the run the shop. from this, my interpersonal skills and the capacity in business has been greatly developed, definitely i was increasingly interested in what i was doing. by december, 2003, i had finally determined to take business management as my career instead of it. to accumulate more relevant knowledge, i strived to gain more practical work experience in some big companies.

fortunately, as a senior, i began by conducting an internship in the architecture company in zhejiang province. over six months, i worked as an assistant of the manager to harmonize the relationship between the different departments in this company and to draft some management system, which broadened my perspective of management conditions and business performance in different industries. the experience showed me that management is much more important than that of i thought in big companies. after graduation, i continued my work in this company. in may, 2005, the company offered me an opportunity to participate in an training program held by a famous management school. through in-depth discussions with teachers and students in the classes, they all encouraged me to pursue my future career in management field because of my intellectual ability and the brand new ideas i mentioned.

during the short period of training, i realized that pursuing a higher degree in management is a wise choice for me now. lancaster, with its excellence in management, represents the perfect fit for my needs. in your challenging environment, i can build the required foundation of knowledge related to management to achieve my goals. i am firmly convinced that your admission will be my first step of success. with this in mind, i hereby submit my application, and await your favorable reply.

英文留學(xué)申請書篇7

i live in pakistan-a country destroying itself with bombs, guns and governments' blabber to find justifications for what it is going through;a country where a former president is murdered in public, where the nation's constitution and parliament are suspended at the same time, and where the voice of a common man is unheard.

since the last few years, i had aspired to become a doctor.the idea of "scalpels," "opened chests" and "sutures" had always intrigued me.and then it happened!the recent unprecedented events in my country wiped off the dust of disillusionment from my eyes;i lost my will to become a doctor.however, the turmoil in the country led me towards newspapers and news channels, and hence politics.

as i involved myself into politics,i realized that it is all-embracive-wielding its way over social and economic life-it is the omnipotent of pakistan.it can mobilize public opinion, gear up propaganda machinery, make or repeal laws and what not.backed up by public opinion, supported by the majority of the legislators, armed with the means to keep the people in a state of ignorance, political power crosses the limits of dictatorial powers.political power, like the most powerful intoxicant, makes the persons in power to forget social ethics, political morality and obligations.

most of the learned youth in this country consider politics to be "a refuge for the scoundrels" and this derogatory remark may be true if we look at the deceptive and degenerated type of politicians indulging in a dirty game.all these political parties are votaries of democracy, but the way they conduct themselves inside their own parties is nothing but senseless authoritarianism.therefore a very few students choose to pursue politics as a profession, but what they don't realize is that if we don't take a stand the system can never be changed.thus,i want to study politics so i can come back to my country and contribute what little i can do for my homeland and its people.if i can inspire even a single person,it would be worth it.the world today is growing global.we are now not only to think of our own nation but as and when we think of it,we have to keep the international perception in mind;consequently,i chose politics with international relations as one of my courses.

studying in uk will breed a sense of individuality and self reliance.i would be able to interact with people from everywhere and get to know about their culture.this would not only open new horizons for me,but would also clear some preconceived notions one has about the other.i have always been an active participant of debates.i have participated in 3 model un conferences out of which i was awarded with the best delegate award in two. i was also one of the two students to be selected from my school to participate in the english speaking union '08.moreover, i've taken part in parliamentary style debates too.therefore i believe i can communicate effectively in public and language will not be a barrier in my education.furthermore, i have worked as an internee at al-shifa eye hospital for a month in summers.here i learnt how to deal with patients, use the auto ref, handle files and punctuality.we also campaigned to a remote area near murree where we helped the doctors in examining the patients free of cost.another experience which taught me a lot was when me and my fellow colleagues volunteered to paint walls for the sos children's village.in addition,i worked with sungi (ngo) where a group of 5 of us had to organize an event to pay tribute to 1000 women for the nobel peace prize.

i enjoy literature, especially the works of shakespeare, tennessee williams, thomas hardy and andrew marvell.i'd be delighted to study in a challenging atmosphere where i can focus on my studies.i commit to my work and my ability to think out of the box, keenness for politics and my perception of things,i understand, gives me an edge over others.i believe in myself, and if provided with an opportunity,i'd make the university proud.
